HANNAH GODDARD CHAPTER-
THE ORIGIN OF OUR CHAPTER’S NAME

Hannah Goddard was the patriot wife of Brookline’s John Goddard.

On August 9, 1775, John Goddard was appointed wagon master general by the Commander in Chief, George Washington, while he was headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

In this capacity, John Goddard was responsible for 300 wagon master teams during the Battle of Bunker Hill and the brilliant overnight fortification of the Dorchester Heights that forced the British to evacuate Boston on March 17, 1776.

The Goddard Farm was the home of Hannah and John Goddard.  It was built by John Goddard in 1767.
